To create an account on Hockey Writers Club (HWC) (the website or app) you must agree to the terms of use described here. We recommend that you read these terms of use carefully so that you are aware of your rights and obligations when using the apps or website of HWC. By using HWC, via whatever device, you declare that you have taken note of and agree to these terms of use.
1. Definitions
A number of terms are used in these terms of use:
a) ‘Content’: all text, photos and graphics that are published in or through Hockey Writers Club, or that can be downloaded or uploaded by a user, regardless of whether they are of an editorial or commercial nature;

h) ‘Platforms’: the website of the Hockey Writers Club, the apps of the Hockey Writers Club and the app of HWC and other (mobile) media that are owned by the Hockey Writers Club.
2. Account / profile
2.1 To make optimal use of the services of Hockey Writers Club, create your own account.
2.2 You agree that we store and use your data in connection with the management of your account. Consult our Privacy Statement here .
2.3 It is not allowed to create one or more accounts in the name of another person, unless that other person has given you permission to do so.
2.4 You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential and liable for all actions performed through your account. If you suspect that your account is being used unlawfully, you can notify Hockey Writers Club of this via privacy@hockeywritersclub.com after which Hockey Writers Club can take measures if necessary.
2.5 You can terminate your account whenever you want. You do this by sending an email to privacy@hockeywritersclub.com. State in this email that you want to have your account deleted.
2.6 The Hockey Writers Club is not liable for damage resulting from any unauthorized access to or use of the website and / or services by third parties.
3. Use of the Services
3.1 By using the services on the platforms, you indicate that you are authorized to do so and act in accordance with these terms of use.
3.2 The use you make of the services may not:
a) be based on falsehoods and / or be misleading;
b) infringe the rights of the Hockey Writers Club or third parties, including copyrights, neighboring rights, trademark rights or any other intellectual property rights or rights with regard to the protection of privacy;
c) violate any law, regulation, ordinance or other applicable regulation;
d) contain viruses or other software that can damage, render unusable or inaccessible, delete or appropriate an automated work or data or that are intended to provide technical protection measures for the platforms and / or the computer systems of the Hockey Writers Club to bypass;
e) are aimed at obtaining unauthorized access to the website, the computer systems and / or the data files of the Hockey Writers Club; or
f) are otherwise unlawful towards the Hockey Writers Club in any way and / or a third party.
3.4 You are responsible and liable for the use of the services. You indemnify the Hockey Writers Club against all claims from third parties in connection therewith.

5. User Content

5.2 By making user content available to the Hockey Writers Club you automatically grant a worldwide, not limited in time, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license (with the right to sublicense) for any (re-) use, reproduction. , distribution, making derivative works, displaying and performing that user content or parts thereof, for any purpose and in any way whatsoever for the benefit of the services, as well as to store the user content in (electronic) files.
5.3 You acknowledge and agree that your user content will be used by other users of the services of the Hockey Writers Club. You also acknowledge that it is possible that your User Content may be used by third parties in a way that is inconsistent with or not provided for in these Terms of Use; the Hockey Writers Club are not liable for actions by third parties in violation of these terms of use.
5.5 By making user content available to the Hockey Writers Club, you guarantee that:
a) you are authorized to make this user content available and that you are entitled to issue the license as referred to in Article 5.2;
b) the user content that you make available does not conflict with the house rules of the Hockey Writers Club (article 6);
5.6 You are fully responsible for the user content that you make available. the Hockey Writers Club are not liable for the consequences of any use of this user content in accordance with these conditions. You indemnify the Hockey Writers Club against all claims from third parties. All costs incurred and damage suffered by the Hockey Writers Club in connection with such claims will be reimbursed by you.
5.7 the Hockey Writers Club reserve the right to remove, block or otherwise make inaccessible user content if it is in conflict with these terms of use.
6. House Rules User Content
We would like you to join the discussion about hockey on our Platforms. But we also like to keep it fun and civilized. That is why we have drawn up a few house rules that users of the Platforms must adhere to:
6.1 Preferably use your real name as display name when creating an account.
6.2 Never use another person’s name.
6.3 It is not allowed to swear or make insulting comments. Without providing an exhaustive list, the following content is not permitted:
a) User Content that is discriminatory with regard to appearance, race, religion, gender, culture, origin or otherwise offensive;
b) User content that incites violence against and / or harassment of another or others;
c) User content that leads to, or is the result of, the exploitation or abuse of others;
d) User content that, in the opinion of the Hockey Writers Club, is contrary to morality or good taste, is violent or contains a link to pornographic material or pornographic websites, or contains pornographic or erotic material;
e) user content in which personal data of minors is requested and / or in which personal data of others is made available;
(f) user content promoting or committing illegal activities;
g) user content that violates intellectual property rights, privacy rights or violates any other rights of the Hockey Writers Club or third parties;
h) User content involving chain letters, junk mail or spam and / or; where passwords or other personally identifiable information is requested for commercial or illegal purposes;
i) User content that includes a photo or image of another person without the consent of another person;
j) User content that is in violation of any law, regulation, ordinance, other applicable regulation or these terms of use.
6.4 The Hockey Writers Club is not the place to fight out personal conflicts.
6.5 Limit the number of responses to a contribution. It is better to conduct a lengthy one-on-one discussion in a different way than via the Hockey Writers Club
6.5 Stay on topic. Off topic responses will be removed by the editors.
6.6 Write clear and understandable English.
6.7 Do not advertise or post commercial messages.
6.8 The Platforms are public. Therefore, do not share sensitive information in comments.

7. Discontinuation of services
If you as a user act in violation of these terms of use, Hockey World News can temporarily or permanently delete your account, delete your user content and / or give you a warning. This is also possible when we believe that your actions can cause damage or liability to yourself, to other users or to Hockey World News.

9. Privacy

10. Changes
The Hockey Writers Club have the right to change its terms of use at any time, without notifying the users. The amended terms of use take effect at the time of publication on the Platforms.
