Hockey Writers' Club Annual Awards
The Hockey Writers’ Club has a proud tradition of awards dating back to 1983, recognising the male and female Player of the Year, numerous Youth Awards and honours for Services to Hockey. The awards, voted by our sports media, are held in high regard by the players and hockey family alike.

UK Player of the Year
Awarded annually to the male and female UK Player of the Year as voted on by the members of the Hockey Writers’ Club
UK Youth & Junior Awards
Awarded annually to the male and female, under 18 & 16, for an outstanding contribution to hockey within their club and school environment. Voted by the HWC Committee from nominations by clubs and schools
Chris Moore Salver
Awarded annually to the male Player of the Match / Tournament in a targeted event
Marjorie Pollard Salver
Awarded to the Player of the Match at the annual Wembley international
Following the ending of the annual Wembley International in 1991 the Salver was awarded at the major fixture of the year
