Do you have a talented young hockey person at your club or school ?

The Hockey Writers Club is inviting nominations for the Higgins Group UK Youth Hockey Awards for this calendar year.

There are four categories:

Boys and Girls aged 18 or under (on December 31) Boys and Girls aged 16 or under (on December 31)

  • Nominations must be made through club, school or regional development team, but no institution can nominate more than one of each gender in total. The deadline is December 7.
  • The judging panel will be looking for qualities that might include: Hockey playing talent (including Futures Cup level) Character
  • Involvement (such as organising, coaching, helping, umpiring)

These awards have been sponsored by the Higgins Group since 2004. The brainchild of the late Derek Higgins, the aim is to encourage  young people in hockey. Many winners in the past have progressed to international level, including Ashley Jackson and Maddy Hinch, but ability is not the only factor.

The winners will be invited as guests of honour,  with parents or guardians,  to the star-studded Hockey Writers' Club annual lunch in London in January.

 All nominations on behalf of a school or club should be forwarded by email to Charles Randall with the nominee's CV and reasons to be considered. The citation part should be no more than 400 words.
