HIGGINS YOUTH AWARDS
The Higgins Youth Awards recognise the outstanding girl and boy in youth hockey in the UK at age 18 and under, and is not just for players but also for umpires and volunteers in the game as well.
The Awards were introduced by the late Derek Higgins, OBE, who sadly passed away in December 2004. A great supporter of hockey, and youth work, Derek initiated and sponsored these awards.
His son Richard, the Chairman of the Higgins Group plc, has been keen to continue the Awards, so much so that this year we are able to introduce a new Award, for a girl or boy normally at age 16 and under.
The Awards are made annually at the same Presentation Lunch alongside the senior Players of the Year awards.
The 20011 Awards will be made on Tuesday 17 January 2012 at the Royal Thames Yacht Club, Knightsbridge, London.
