The Hockey Writers Club is inviting nominations for the Higgins Group UK Youth Hockey Awards for this calendar year.

There are four categories:

Boys and Girls aged 18 or under (on December 31) Boys and Girls aged 16 or under (on December 31)

GREAT BRITAIN upset the odds by beating the world No 2 side Australia 4-3 in a thrilling final at the Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia.

The media facilities for the KO Finals at the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre were the most low-key I can remember at such a tournament but they were appropriate for the event itself.

The handful of journalists and photographers present were still adequately served.

The Media Centre was located to the right of the main reception with an area cordoned off and a printed sign saying “Accredited Media only”.

Surbiton completed the League championship and Cup double with Sunday's comfortable 5-0 win over Clifton Robinsons, the defending Cup holders, to add to the Champions title won last week with a 3-1 victory against Holcombe.

They have lost only one game this season when a 53-game unbeaten league run was ended with a 3-2 defeat by Leicester in February and they have now won four successive League championships and three of the last four cup finals.
