2014 Hockey World Cup

It has been decided that the Marjorie Pollard and Chris Moore Awards will this year be given to the two outstanding UK players at the Rabobank Hockey World Cup, in the Hague. Voting is extended to include members who watch the games on television.


Adam Dixon, the 27-year-old GB and England defender from the Beeston club, and Maddie Hinch, 25-years-old and the GB, England and Holcombe goalkeeper, have been named UK Players of the Year for 2013 following the annual poll conducted amongst British members of the Hockey Writers' Club.




The Higgins 18-and-Under Player-of-the-Year for Boys was awarded to CHRIS PROCTOR of England champions Beeston.

England and GB goalkeeper Maddie Hinch has told Push magazine she is delighted to have received the Hockey Writers' Club player of the year award for 2013.

"I look at the list of previous winners and when I see my name at the bottom now I think 'this looks out of place'," said the 25-year-old.

Hockey Writers' Club members are eligible to vote for their UK Players of the Year. These prestigious awards are to be presented at the HWC Annual Lunch to be held at the Royal Thames Yacht Club on Tuesday January 21, 2014.

The Hockey Writers' Club announced the 2012 winners of the Higgins Group plc Youth and Junior Awards with the presentations made at the Annual Awards Presentation Lunch on Tuesday 22nd January 2013 at the Royal Thames Yacht Club, Knightsbridge. Mr Richard Higgins, Chairman of Higgins Group plc made the presentations. The President of the world body, the FIH, was in attendance at the function.

The nominations for this year's entry gave the adjudicating committee a difficult task as the quality of the nominees was very high.
